The name that became synonmous with online cheating, Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo, is now the name that’s becoming synonomous with “prodigy.” And not “jjprodigy,” either. Just the old-fashioned kind.
Now 21, and banned for life from several major internet poker sites, Bonomo has entered the world of major live tournaments in a major way. Fresh off three final tables at the Bellagio Five Diamonds events in January, Bonomo started day 3 of the Pokerstars Carribean Adventure in the chip lead, and as of this writing (9ish that evening), has outlasted last year’s champ Steve Paul-Ambrose to make it to day 4 and the final 18.
As much as he became the subject of vilification (and rightly so) for his online actions, it seems indisputable that the boy’s got game. You can follow the rest of the PCA action at the Pokerstars blog.
